Understanding how the places we live in affect our health and wellbeing.
We are the Health, Access + Planning (HAP) Lab in the School of Urban and Regional Planning at Toronto Metropolitan University.
Led by Dr. Samantha Biglieri, MCIP, RPP, the Health, Access + Planning (HAP) Lab conducts critical, community-based, and applied research at the intersections of planning and health. Specifically, we center on the wellbeing of marginalized populations, and are interested in working with communities to build just, inclusive cities. To name a few areas - we do research on neighbourhoods, housing, transportation, built form, public space, accessibility, care, governance and more. We also have a focus on the experiences of older adults and people living with dementia in their communities.
Check out our Publications, Blog and recent Projects to see what we are up to! The Projects page also includes current opportunities to participate in research as well.
