Ramya Ragavan (she/her)

Ramya is in her second year in the Masters of Planning (MPl) program at Toronto Metropolitan University. As a second generation Canadian, Ramya’s upbringing consisted of balancing her Sri Lankan heritage and the diverse cultures prevalent in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). This fueled her curiosity about diverse perspectives and educating herself on equitable representation of different societal groups. In her undergraduate degree, Ramya studied Environmental Studies with a double minor in Geomatics and Global Studies at Wilfrid Laurier University. Her previous coursework helped Ramya develop a passion in using design and GIS mapping to analyze and visualize her work. These interests translated into her Major Research Project (MRP) where she will be examining how urban design and planning policies have an effect on the mental health of residents in Burlington, Ontario.
