Raisa Chowdhury (she/her)

B.U.R.Pl. Student + Research Assistant

Raisa is a Registered Professional Planner and Full Member of the Canadian Institute of Planners, currently working as a Planner with the City of Oshawa. A graduate of Toronto Metropolitan University’s Urban and Regional Planning program, she is passionate about shaping inclusive, resilient communities through thoughtful policy and planning.

Her planning interests include community development, planning for marginalized populations, and creating age-friendly communities that support aging in place. Raisa is particularly interested in how planning policy can be leveraged to improve quality of life and foster equitable access to housing and community resources.

Prior to joining the City of Oshawa, Raisa worked with Toronto Community Housing as an Outreach Ambassador in Regent Park, where she advocated for youth and supported various community engagement initiatives.

Outside of her planning career, Raisa is a florist and artist with a love for creativity and design.

Research Interests: Policy, social planning, affordable housing and aging in place.
